Prayer for those involved in the Colorado tragedy

For those involved in the tragic shooting in Colorado, St. Francis of Assisi’s prayer:

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where is there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much
seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is dying that we are born to eternal life.
St. Francis of Assisi

  1. Thanks, Tina. I always wished I were catholic as it seems such a forgiving faith.

  3. This prayer is my lige's mantra. I'll take this post as confirmation. So kind of you to honor the victims. It seems so senseless. So hard for the families recovery!
