The blessing of animals

I am letting this photograph and some quotes speak for me today.

“Animals, like us, are living souls. They are not things. They are not objects. Neither are they human. Yet they mourn. They love. They dance. They suffer. They know the peaks and chasms of being.”
― Gary Kowalski, The Souls of Animals

“Animals can communicate quite well. And they do. And generally speaking, they are ignored”
― Alice Walker

“What sets humans apart from animals is that we have to walk around saying how smart we are, and animals just live their lives.”
― Chanctetinyea J.J. Ouellette

“Lacking a shared language, emotions are perhaps our most effective means of cross-species communication. We can share our emotions, we can understand the language of feelings, and that's why we form deep and enduring social bonds with many other beings. Emotions are the glue that binds.”
― Marc Bekoff, The Emotional Lives of Animals: A Leading Scientist Explores Animal Joy, Sorrow, and Empathy and Why They Matter

What do you think the crow and the squirrel are saying to each other?

  1. "Emotions are the glue that binds." Love it!

  2. Beautiful quotes, Tina!

Considering the squirrel is the only one eating, I'm guessing that the crow is asking for the food to be shared. "May I dine with you?"

  3. i wonder if different species can communicate with each other...i love when i see photos like this where they are just hanging around each other, getting along! animals certainly are blessings! i don't know how anyone can hurt them :(

  4. I couldn't agree with you and these quotes more, Tina. And wonderful images.

  5. Such lovely quotes. I adore our pets as though they were our children. The wild ones are like extended family. What a blessing they all are.

  6. What great quotes! Hope you have a great weekend.

  7. I so agree with this post. My furry friends are always communicating with me.

  8. Being the animal lover that I am, Tina, I thoroughly enjoyed this post! Thanks so much for sharing. I will consider it a gift for my birthday, which is October 27th! (tomorrow) I made a special post for it which will publish then. Sending you warm hugs.
